Tiger Woods and Buddhism?

The Tiger Woods thing --- i don’t really get it.  Well, he is unfaithful to his wife but i suppose that is not rare among either celebrities or non-celebrities.  why is the public so surprised?!  since when addiction to sex actually needs therapy and becomes a pathological excuse for cheating?  yet the whole thing is really private matter for Woods and the women involved.  if Woods’ job is to play golf, why should we care about his private life? i think the public has been under the illusion that great sportsmanship equals to great moral standards.  excuse me it should never be the case.  why do people constantly need a role model?  I suppose it is because people don’t really trust themselves and want something larger than life -- and that often leads to disappointment.

Yesterday Woods delivered his public apology on TV.  I don’t think he really owes the public an apology except those directly affected.  And the apology was not well written.  Not a great speaker. Monotonous and repetitive.  And it gotridiculous when he mentioned he was raised Buddhist.   Come on - Buddhism does not ask you to be moral or be loyal to your family.  Buddhism tells you all emotions are pain – yet all things have no inherent existence.  in that sense, whether you cheat your wife or not does not really matter.

Whatever…
